Course Description
Phonics is phenomenal because phonics skills help us to read! In order for students to learn how to read, they need to have a solid phonics program. In Phenomenal Phonics, students will be able to learn letters, sounds, sight words, practice handwriting, and develop a foundation for understanding sounds and letters to make words and write sentences. In part one, students learn about letters of the alphabet with objects and picture representation and sounds of those alphabet letters. Part two focuses on applying those sounds through identifying rhyming words and part three introduces sight words that students should know in order to help them start to read in the primary level. This course is primarily intended for grades K to 1 students; however, students in grades 2 and 3 may also benefit from this course.
Course Goals
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to apply what they know about letters and sounds to sound out words and sentences with rhyming and sight words.
