Homeschooling in New Jersey and recordkeeping. Need rules!

  Aleayah » Mon, 28 Dec 2020 14:37:41 PM

We've spent hours trying to puzzle together different materials to develop a good New Jersey curriculum. There are a lot of solid reviews about using Lernsys Academy for homeschooling or private lessons emoji-happy. What records are homeschooled children required to keep in New Jersey? Can someone offer any advice?

Welcome to the forum, study It is not required by law for homeschooled children in New Jersey to keep records , however, it is considered highly helpful and valuable to keep a homeschooling portfolio for your child’s progress for each grade. This information is very important when it comes to developing a high school transcript for future college or career needs or in the event the homeschooler needs to return to school in the future.

As a parent, you may want to consider things worth keeping record of. A few recommendations for you:

• For any standardized tests taken, keep record of the scores

• The grades by subject gotten by the students

• The subject work covered at each grade level

• Other achievements of the students including extracurricular activities the students participated in

• Any volunteer time the student performed while homeschooling
