Hey there,homeschool-placer Do homeschoolers in Alberta receive a high school diploma? Is it possible that someone with home-schooling experience can provide some guidance and their feedback or reviews on Lernsys?

Welcome to the group!homeschool-placer Parents in Alberta get to decide when their homeschooled student can graduate and then give the children a diploma upon graduation. Homeschoolers in Alberta are not required by law to take any test in order to graduate. Parents in Alberta are at liberty to include what they deem pertinent to military, future workplace places and universities when creating their children's transcripts. Homeschooled students in Alberta meet graduation requirements upon determination by the parent. A parent may choose to assign credits to individual courses covered in the course of the homeschooling time. SECTION 6 Home Education Regulations also states that: "On the recommendation of a school principal, a student receiving a home education program that follows the Alberta Programs of Study is eligible to receive high school credits if the student achieves the course standards and learning outcomes set out in the Alberta Programs Study." This page includes a lot of good information on homeschooling in Alberta:

The eligibility criteria in Alberta for the GED is the same for homeschoolers as well as public school students. Section 6 of the Home Education Regulations also provides that a student receiving a home education program that follows the Alberta Programs of Study is eligible to receive high school credits if the student achieves the course standards and learning outcomes.

Hi!homeschool-placer Although a couple of provinces may require proof of testing, nearly all 10 provinces including Alberta permit a parent to issue a homeschool diploma for their own student. Employers in Alberta are not given permission to discriminate against a homeschool diploma or give preference to a person whose diploma given by a public school. Many colleges in Alberta and elsewhere actively make an effort to recruit homeschooled students.
