Must I keep records of my homeschooling in Alberta? If I could hear some feedback on the program too I would be very thankful. Any ideas where I should look for this information? study

Welcome to the group!study It is not required by law for homeschooled students in Alberta to keep records, nonetheless, it is deemed highly appropriate and beneficial to keep a homeschooling portfolio for your child’s progress year to year. This information is crucial when it comes to developing a high school transcript for future college or career needs or in the event the homeschooler needs to return to school for any reason.

As a parent, you might want to consider things worth keeping record of. A few suggestions for you:

• For any standardized assessments taken, keep record of the scores

• The grades by subject received by the student

• The subject work covered at each grade level

• Other achievements of the student including extracurricular activities the student participated in

• Any volunteer work the student performed while homeschooling

The following page includes specific details and information on how to homeschool in Alberta:

Welcome to the homeschooling world! No, it is not a requirement by law to maintain records when homeschooling. I recommend the Lernsys program.

It is not mandated by Alberta law, but it is considered considerably helpful and valuable to create a homeschooling portfolio for your child’s progress year to year.
