Students will understand line as an element in art. Students will be able to identify horizontal and vertical lines in art. A project will be completed using line.

3 Lesson 2 Texture 13:39

Students will be able to recognize and define texture in art and complete an accompanying project.

4 Lesson 3 Primary Colors 10:14

Students will learn the importance and role of primary colors. Children will be able to identify primary colors and create a project using primary colors.

5 Lesson 4 Secondary Colors 09:30

Students will be introduced to secondary colors. Children will learn which primary colors make secondary colors. A project will be made using secondary colors.

6 Lesson 5 Cool Colors 09:51

Students will be introduced to cool colors. Students will be able to identify cool colors in art. Children will complete an art project using cool colors.

7 Lesson 6 Warm Colors 07:35

Students will learn to identify warm colors. Art project will use warm colors.

Students will learn about the life and art work of Claude Monet. Art project will be based on Monet's works.

Students will be exposed to works of Kandinsky, create a Kandinsky inspired art project, and participate in an art criticism.

Students will be introduced to the life and works of Henri Matisse. Art project will include a collage inspired by Matisse, and students will participate in an art criticism.

24 Lesson 23 Georges Seurat 07:57

Students will learn about the art work and pointillism technique used by Georges Seurat. Project focuses on the use of pointillism. An art criticism will be based on the art of Seurat.

25 Lesson 24 Andy Warhol 09:20

Students will receive an overview of the works and style of Andy Warhol. Pop art will be defined and discussed. Project will involve an Andy Warhol inspired project. Art criticism will be on art work of Andy Warhol.

26 Lesson 25 Jackson Pollock 08:09

The style of Jackson Pollock will be discussed. Students will be able to define abstract expressionism. Teacher will demonstrate art project in Jackson Pollock style. Art criticism will focus on a Jackson Pollock work.

27 Lesson 26 Georgia O'Keeffe 09:55

Students will be introduced to the works of Georgia O'Keeffe. Project will be O'Keeffe inspired. Art criticism will be done on the art of Georgia O'Keeffe.

28 Lesson 27 Picasso 10:09

Students will be introduced to the artist Pablo Picasso. Students will understand cubism in art and complete a cubism portrait inspired by Picasso.

29 Lesson 28 Frida Kahlo 13:31

Students will learn about the life and art of Frida Kahlo. Students will know the definition of an art portrait. Students will complete a portrait art project. Art criticism discussion will be on a work from Kahlo.

30 Lesson 29 Alma Woodsy Thomas 07:22

Students will be introduced to the abstract expressionist artist Alma Woodsy Thomas. An art project will be done as an Alma Woodsy Thomas inspired work.

31 Lesson 30 Leonardo DaVinci 09:39

Students will learn about the life, art and inventions of Leonardo Da Vinci. Art project will contain a secret message. Art Criticism will be on Da Vinci work.

Art for Everyone

This course is designed for students in grades kindergarten to second or any beginning elementary art student. Classes are presented in a non-indimidating format and projects are designed for all ability levels. The class contains 46 lessons, and classes are divided into 3 sections.

Course Goals:

Upon completion students will have the foundation that every beginning artist needs. Students will be able to recognize and implement the 7 elements of art. They will also have a strong art history foundation with an introduction to 18 famous artists and their artistic styles as well as knowledge on how to conduct an art criticism as per standards.

In addition, they will gain bilateral coordination and fine motor skills. They will also know the names and uses for numerous artist tools through hands-on art projects.

Target Audience:

This class was designed with Kindergarten through second grade in mind, but is also absolutely appropriate for any beginning elementary aged artist.
