This is a course introduction sharing a little about me. It will also explain how this course will use four texts to teach 6th grade learning targets. Each of the four units will cover eight learning targets for 6th graders.

6th Grade Fiction Reading

This 6th grade fiction reading course includes four units each using a different excerpt of an interactive read aloud for the different skills.  There are a total of 40 lessons which include a quiz at the end of each unit and a final exam. 

In each of the lessons, I begin by modeling the learning target for the students by thinking aloud.  As I progress through the lesson, I gradually release their responsibility for each of the skills.  This method helps students become familiar with the skill and feel more confident as they move to their independent practice.

This “6th Grade Fiction Reading” video course covers all of the content students need to successfully complete the 6th grade fiction curriculum. The course has an emphasis on critical thinking skills. It covers the learning requirements for literature for a 6th grade student.
